Skills deployment for a ‘just’ net zero energy transition

نویسندگان

چکیده

A ‘Just Transition’ seeks to protect the rights of workforce throughout transition away from high carbon industries and towards sustainable economic sectors. This includes reskilling where appropriate a fair distribution benefits, alongside recognition participation affected communities. Drawing on systematic literature review case study delineated by 38 English Local Enterprise Partnerships we analyse variety skills required support just more decentralised smart low energy systems (defined as ‘smart local systems’) in England. We found that attention is assessing provision, upskilling workforce, or risk being unjust. Regional disparities availability could be mitigated through provision system whereby stakeholders can training opportunities, identify emergent skill-gaps leverage investment. In addition, greater devolution authorities would enable them effectively.

Net-Zero Energy Building Enhancement for a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum Educational Facility

In the United States, university buildings use 17% of total non-residential building energy per year. According to the NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory), the average lifecycle of a building in a university is 42 years with an EUI (energy use intensity) of 23 kWh/m/y. Current building and energy codes limit the EUI to 16 kWh/m/y for new school buildings; this benchmark can vary dependi...
